Don't you just hate those phone calls ... the ones where someone with an Indian accent asks to speak to someone you don't even know?
And when you answer with "Sorry! Wrong number!", they start asking you if they can speak to someone else you don't know or, if you have a PC or laptop.
"No! He's doesn't live here either!" or "I don't have a PC!" doesn't seem to dampen their ardour and they continue to quiz and query.
Those conversations can only end with an annoyed recipient slamming the phone down then having a thirty minute rant about how irritating cold callers are.
And there are days when they come like My. Ford's car parts rolling down the assembly line ... Model T Ford cold calling!
I have had three already this morning!
And the most irritating thing ... the thing that winds me up like a clockwork soldier ... is that I'm pretty damned sure that I signed up to one of those schemes that filters those calls out!
But hey! It's ok!
I can live with the fact this scheme thingy isn't working.
I can ... because it was free!
But ... aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!
Why do they call and call and call?
Why don't they remove you from their database or flag you up as "very annoyed, probably suicidal"?
I know they have a job to do and earn very little doing it ... but it just makes you want to kill when their calls keep on coming.
Grumblegrumblemoangroanmoanmoanmoan!
On a lighter note ... I have lost 23.37 lbs (get it? A LIGHTER note!)
And I haven't been dieting!
Just eating in moderation!
Say "Well done that man!"
Pat's on the back gratefully accepted!

Weight Gain
So I went to the doctor last week.
I was concerned about my alarming gain in weight.
Sh was also concerned, but to my mind not as concerned as she ought to be.
"We'll run a few tests and have an answer to your problem in no time" she said. "We'll take some blood but, in the mean time, you can give me a pee sample in this bottle. But take it mid-steam, ok?"
"But the nearest stream is miles away" I said. "And it's cold!"
She gave me a slap!
A week later she called me back for the test results.
"Not good news, I'm afraid" she said after I'd sat down.
My mind raced through a list of all the deadly conditions and ailments that could mean my end.
A solemn expression came over her face.
"I'm afraid you have an over active ..."
"Thyroid?"
"... knife and fork!"
She muttered something about time wasting, handed me a diet sheet and sent me on my way!
She just doesn't understand 'man' troubles!

25 to 21.8 Kilos
The good news is that Sym has had all his blood tests done and he is in the clear as far as all his internals go.
The only concern now is his fairly dramatic weight loss. He was never an over weight dog and has always been active but since his chemotherapy he has dropped first to 23.5 kilos (which was to be expected) and now, in less than a week, his weight has dropped to 21.8 kilos.
We'll have to find him a nice healthy diet to build him back up again.
He spent the night at the vets for observation and to get some fluids into him. With any luck my boy will be back by about 10am today.
I promise to let him use the laptop so he can tell you all about his ordeal but for now all I can say is ....
PHEW!!!

Biscuits: A re-post
(Prompted by the re-emergence of my tummy-tum-tum)
I am having a bit of a 'moment'!
I have two packets of shortbread fingers in the cupboard and I can hear them calling to me ... I really can!
The cries of 'eat us' can be heard very clearly and it's driving me nuts! I have to lose a pound or two and knowing how desperate they are to be eaten makes it very hard for me ... come to think of it, ALL food is making it hard!
From my first waking moments, as my consciousness is still desperately trying to negotiate the myriad neural pathways of my brain, the lightning fast command to find something to eat will already have winged it's way throughout my system to be answered by my rumbling stomach and it's demand for satisfaction.
This craving for constant nourishment of the unhealthy variety only seems to occur ONLY on those days I find myself at home. When I'm out and about working, I don't feel hungry and certainly don't think about food, healthy or otherwise. Isn't that funny?
Anyway, those shortbreads have had it!!!
