About This Blog

This blog was originally started as a thread on the forum pages of an animal rescue site. Now it's here!

The articles you find in here are purely for entertainment (yours and mine) and (with one or two exceptions) are all tongue-in-cheek chronicles of the World (my bit, anyway) as I see it.
No disrespect is intended towards anyone unless I make a mistake and make it too obvious.

I hope you enjoy my offerings. Feedback and comments of any kind are welcome.

They Lied!

I have been assured, by people who purport to know these things, that bad things come in threes

They Lie!

The scum bags!

Bad thing's come in ones!

One after the other ... forever!

And ever!

I seem to have a target, as it were, on my back where bad luck is concerned.

As those of you who have been with me for some time may remember, I have always had car troubles.  Just when one problem was been dealt with, another one reared it's ugly, oil smeared head. You may also recall that I wrote about damage to house and property caused by high winds. And of course there was also the recent case of my dog Sym's lymphoma.

Well, there is still no silver lining to my black cloud of bad luck; no ray of sunshine seeking to warm the cockles of my heart (whatever that means).

You may already be wondering 'What's happened now?'.  I can hear the creaking of many (how many readers do I have?) swivel chairs as clearer screen views are sought.

Here's the latest!

My tyres need replacing ... far earlier than anticipated and without achieving the mileage they should have done.

Over night (Saturday to Sunday) there were once again gale force winds battering our house and garden (it may well have battered the homes and gardens of others. I didn't notice) and quite severe damage was caused to our fence (a rather large piece of which narrowly missed our kitchen window).

And, of course, there is Sym! His recent course of treatment resulted in only partial remission.

Now ... that's only three, I hear you say. And you would be right ... I can count.

But there's also ...

Sox (older dog) ... Ill
The lawnmower ... fuel leak!
The strimmer ... busted!
The hedge trimmer ... locked solid!
The DVD-recorder ... dead as a dodo!
The wife's PC ...well, OK! I killed that one.

And it goes on and on and on and on and on and ....

Need I say more?

Yes! They lied! They really did!

  1. Don't waste your money on lottery tickets - you have lots of luck but it's all bad! lol!

  2. Replies
    1. We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like?
      Jean Cocteau (1889 - 1963)

  3. Had you asked, I would have told you it was all a lie.

  4. I suspect the English weather has got to you mate, you need a holiday in Australia. (just stay away from the shark infested water, the spider and snake infested forests and deserts and the Drop Bear infested low lands)But I have to say that youre looking at the bad side of things...sure the fence blew down but it MISSED the kitchen window; With any luck the mower will go up in flames the next time you start it and you wont have to mow those damn lawns again..or trim the edges or hedges.
As for the rest..yeah, you've got some bad luck there for sure..

    1. Is that an invitation to to live out my days at your place ... where you do all the repairs and garden work?

  5. Not wanting to minimize your problems, but what is a strimmer? Maybe mine is broken, too.

    1. Strimmer: it's one of those thingies used for keep borders (where the mower won't do a good enough job) nice and shipshape!

  6. Sounds like you're having a bad trot, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, in your case though its very tiny one at the moment :-).

    1. There's too much hope in that statement. I think "bottomless shaft" should be inserted instead of "tunnel"!

That's how it looks from my perspective, anyway

  7. Yes of course they lie.(ahh but they lie about the lying) So sorry about your fur babies.. I hail from Tuscaloosa, Alabama USA. I know gail force winds. My house has yet to be fixed 1 yr later. (4/27/11).Sounds lame but hang in there, the Sun will shine again. Peace.....

    1. Hi Mary! I never thought that would ever lie about lying. That means they could, theoretically, lie about the lie about the lying! Wow! That's philosophy, that is!

Haven't as yet had a whole house blow away.

Just watched a video of the Tuscaloosa Twister. I'll stick to our little gust's, thank you. Hope your house is fixed-up soon.

Any and all comments are welcome ...
